Manchester United are moving closer to winning the Premier League title for the first time since 2003 with a 1-0 win over derby rivals, Manchester City.

They now move to within a single point of the Premiership title and it means also that Chelsea must now win at Arsenal on Sunday or face United at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday already celebrating their title win.

Cristiano Ronaldo was again in the thick of the action, scoring from the spot after being brought down by City’s defender Michael Ball in the area. Ball had gone unpunished for stomping on Ronaldo’s chest two minutes into the game.

But Chelsea nearly believe the title chase is wide open again when City was awarded a penalty on the 80th minute, and would you believe it, Edwin Van der Saar blocked Darius Vassel’s shot with his leg and the defence scrambled to clear the loose ball.

With only 2 matches to go, one on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge and the last match against West Ham, United need only a single point to win the title, and probably by the next 24 hours, if Chelsea fail to beat Arsenal, we will get a new Premiership champion.
