Michael Owen Has A Point To Prove
Manchester United transfer targets are now a much debated topic with names after names of top player keep popping up from nowhere. With Owen Hargreaves almost a sure target, Sir Alex Ferguson search for a striker in no longer a secret.
Dimitar Berbatov, Samuel Eto’o, Carlos Tevez and Michael Owen are among the hot candidates to partner Wayne Rooney upfront. With Manchester United tranformation to a fast attacking style of play, a pacey striker is much needed to score at least 20 goals per season , a feat that not many strikers can fulfilled.
However, with Berbatov already rejected the offer, Eto’o too expensive and Tevez too similar to Rooney, Michael Owen is the only striker that has the reputation and value to fill the requirements. Owen who’s played twice this season because of a knee injury, has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for 9 million pounds if Newcastle United fails to qualify for Europe.
And Michael Owen certainly wants to prove a point, starting with Newcastle United last game of the season against Watford. With only a match to go, and England B game against Albania, Owen knows that he has little time to show that he’s back to his best. And Watford would be thankful, at least….. they are already relegated.
