Wanted Men
With all the big four clubs looking for top strikers high on their list, we will provide some candidates from other leagues that could be making a possible move to the English Premiership.
1. Samuel Eto’o (Barcelona)
Possible transfer to: Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal (swap for Henry)
Ever since Eto’o refused to come on as a sub in February, his transfer rumours is increasing as ever. Barcelona paid 25 million pounds for him and we expect his value to reach at least a cool 30 million pounds which only Man Utd or Liverpool can afford. Arsenal have had a sniff but - pre-Kroenke - won’t be able to afford him unless they swap him for Thierry Henry.
2. Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Ajax)
Possible transfer to: Manchester United, Arsenal
Known as the “Hunter”, he scored three goals every four games in the Dutch League over the past two seasons. Even replaced Ruud van Nistelrooy in the Dutch national team and could follow his footsteps into Old Trafford.
3. Miroslav Klose (Werder Bremen)
Possible transfer to: Liverpool, Newcastle United
Tall, strong and a proven goalscorer, Klose could be the least heralded but best option of the lot. With only one more year on his contract, he would come cheap and Werder Bremen won’t sell him to Bayern which opens the door for the EPL.
4. David Villa (Valencia)
Possible transfer to : Chelsea, Liverpool
The 25 year old Spaniard is one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment, following prolific spells at Real Zaragoza and Valencia. Has also made an immediate impact on international stage, establishing himself as a regular fixture in Luis Aragones’s Spain side.
5. Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid)
Possible transfer to: Manchester United, Liverpool
The young Spaniard has been linked with a move to a major European club for some time, but so far has remained loyal to Atletico Madrid. However, many believed that the time has arrived for Torres to move on, since last summer interest from Manchester United. Admired for his pace and finishing ability, and at just 23, he may well have his best years ahead of him.
