La Liga Title Race Turned Upside Down In 18 Seconds
In a period of just eighteen seconds, Ruud Van Nistelrooy equalised for Fabio Capello’s side and then Tamudo of Espanyol levelled the scores in the Nou Camp. Both matches ended a couple of minutes later at 2-2, meaning that Real Madrid stays top of the table thanks to better head to head record over the Catalans. With Sevilla picking up a point as well in a 0-0 draw at Mallorca to stay two points behind the leaders, everthing will now be decided next Sunday. Now that’s extraordinary !
So who has the most straightforward task? Real Madrid are at home to 12th place Real Mallorca, so that might hand them a slight advantage, but Barcelona are away to Gimnastic who have already been relegated. Sevilla meanwhile are at home to Villareal who lie sixth after beating Athletico Bilbao 3-1.
All eyes will be on Beckham again who suffered injury on his left ankle but would be favourite to start next Sunday. With rumours of his u-turn from joining LA Galaxy already being quashed, Beckham will once again be the player to watch. Will he score that ultimate freekick to bring his first La Liga title? Or will there be a Messi ‘Hand of Gods’? Tune in next Sunday for the finale of the season.
