Brazil Should Be More Considerate On Real & Robinho

Filed under: La Liga — Chole @ 4:34 am

real-madrid-robinho-1.jpgReal Madrid striker Robinho is at the centre of a struggle between the Spanish club and the Brazilian soccer confederation, which both want the player for competitions they consider essential.

The latest news was that Robinho was blocked by Real Madrid from attending the start of his national team training yesterday ahead of the Copa America, a move that would allow FIFA to deduct points from the Spanish league leader.

The South Americans nations championship begins June 26 in Venezuela but FIFA regulations require clubs to release players 14 days prior to the start of a final competition of a major tournament, meaning that Madrid supposed to have returned Robinho on Tuesday.

But Brazil could have been more considerate in the case of Robinho, as the Spanish league go into the final day of the season, moreover, Madrid win against Mallorca this Sunday will hand them the title, it’s first in three years.

Not that national duty is less important, but having their opener against Mexico is on the 27th, Dunga still has some time to prepare Robinho in the team. And having already loss Ronaldinho and Kaka, who ask to be excused to recover from European League season (which is far worst crime than Robinho), Dunga concern is understandable since they have many new faces on the team and Robinho experience is more important than ever.

While a compromise would in the end come between Brazil and Real Madrid, both should have taken steps in the first place not to put a player between his club and his country.
