While many are still waiting the outcome of Carlos Tevez move to Manchester United, some are already comparing the partnership of Tevez & Rooney to be as as mouthwatering as Eto’o and Henry.
And they are probably right. The propect of two of the most passionate, hardworking, deep running strikers working side by side would send shivers to English Premiership defenders. Not to mention that Manchester United also have Ronaldo, Giggs, Nani and Anderson, a frightening group of fast attacking footballers.
However, since the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid, Man Utd lost an accomplished target man that Louis Saha and Alan Smith are unable to fill. And looking at the qualities that Tevez have, which is much in abundance, he is not a target man but rather a deep lying striker, which is currently what Wayne Rooney is doing.
And you can see the similarities almost in every aspect of their game, both players are hard runners, always want the ball and play from deep, partnering a target man striker.
Still, the best part of their qualities are, that they are also versatile. Both Rooney and Tevez can play in midfield and wing, but with Nani in the picture, in would be likely that either one of them would be benched subsequently.
But I’m sure Manchester United fans won’t care much as long as they get Tevez, even though it’s a five year loan.

09|Jul|2007 2Spot on. Tevez would be surplus to requirements. I can’t see both Tevez & Rooney playing together. They need a Larsson type of player. Sell Smith and Saha and buy Michael Owen. Haha…

12|Jul|2007 3I dun mind to be honest. They may be similiar, but the may cause more havoc to the opponent. More MU players to mark. That’ll also help to release the burden off Ron’s shoulder. As long as he can help us retain the EPL trophy, again, I dun mind. Come on MU!

15|Jul|2007 4Tevez would be a bonus for Man Utd, since they already signed three top players. I reckon he would be important in Europe.
