David Beckham..Alone in the USA

Filed under: English Premier League — Chole @ 1:10 pm

david_beckham_reuters1.jpgDavid Beckham arrived in Los Angeles airport yesterday to a mass hysteria of fans and media. And to many of us, still wondering his motives and ambition, the likes of David Beckham playing in the MLS is still a shock to many.

The standard of the MLS is the issue that is most easy to grasp as you contemplate the complexities of the Beckhams arrival in the LA. While Carl Robinson and Abel Xavier are seeing out their careers, David Beckham is actually still much in demand in Europe where he would be playing among the greats of football where he really belongs.

One thing that Beckham must also remember, he is in a totally different territory. The MLS never has a 70,000 people at a match and the New York Red Bulls average just 10,000 at the moment. And while LA Galaxy are struggling - just three wins all season, Beckham is just not the sort of player like Pele or Best, capable of giving the American audiences the dribbling skills they seem to like. Still, David Beckham, welcome to the USA.
