Tottenham have made a bid for Argentina and Villareal playmaker, Juan Roman Riquelme, according to the playmaker’s agent.
It is said that Villareal are willing to part of with Riquelme after the player spent the second half of last season back in Argentina with Boca Juniors. Reports mention that Tottenham had made an approach for Riquelme for a fee of around 10 million pounds.
Surprisingly, not many clubs have made their interest public for the Argentine who was sensational during the Copa America. Part of it because only Argentina is currently playing with a playmaker which means that the tactical and style of play will be centred around Riquelme.
While the news of Riquelme joining Spurs may be far fetch, since not many South American playmaker enjoyed success in the Premiership (remember Veron of Man Utd), the creative central midfielder may just be the answer for Spurs and Martin Jol.
