Jonathan Woodgate last night joined Tottenham on a three-and-a-half year deal worth 65,000 pounds a week, which makes him the highest paid player at the club ahead of Ledley King and Robbie Keane.
Woodgate became the most wanted player in Britain yesterday when he snubbed Newcastle in the weekend while Aston Villa also made a last ditch attempt to sign him and had a 7 million pounds bid accepted by Boro.
Despite the bizarre merry go round, Woodgate himself believe that he was on his way to Arsenal which left Spurs unhappy that Boro seems to be hawking him around for a better deal.
However, Arsene Wenger insisted that they did not want him and claimed that they have never been in touched with Boro about Woodgate.
