It is clear that Capello refuses to indulge in any sentimentality. And dropping David Beckham is probably the right thing to do at this moment, showing that Capello is not easily persuaded by the public on this matter.

The Italian does know what Beckham can offer to a side - he was manager of Real Madrid last season and restored the England midfielder after he was initially dropped following his agreement to join Galaxy.

So, the reason that Beckham is not in the squad because he has not had any real match practice is quite rational. The 100th cap can wait and Capello can take this opportunity to test either Shaun Right Philips or David Bently who have been in great form for their clubs.

Well, England is not all about David Beckham. But, I am sure he will fight for his place and earned his 100th cap eventually.
