Well, you have probably heard it before, Michael Owen is overrated. Yeah, he played at Liverpool and Real Madrid but since joining Newcastle, his playing style has never change which made him predictable to defenders.

While Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez or Thierry Henry have great technical abilities and skills, Michael Owen is just too direct. But not only that, Newcastle Saturday’s defeat by Blackburn saw Owen missing so many chances which made you wonder whether Owen has lost his scoring touch.

And Newcastle attacking problem just don’t stop there, Alan Smith has of today failed to score in the Premier League for two years and 106 days !!!

Last season he scored once in 19 games - in Manchester United’s 7-1 Champions League romp over Roma at Old Trafford on April. However, his Premier League goal came two seasons ago when he netted United’s opener in a 3-1 win over Charlton at the Valley on November 19, 2005 - his only success in 34 games that campaign.

Surely, Keegan must has realised this but his decision to start Smith in the last six games shows that Keegan is panicking and must be out of options.

And like what James Milner mention - Newcastle are not too good to go down.
